This doesn't seem like a relevant or particularly accurate comment about Quicktime, at least with respect to the context as a VR environment.

- Technologically many would argue it is not ahead of at least some. - What are its competitors, with respect to VR, that have a greater installed base? - Virtually all third-party panoramic software is as compatible with Quicktime (as a viewer for VR) as with any other player.

If this comment can't be clarified or defended I plan to remove it. Perhaps further clarification to better distinguish these comments about QT in general from QTVR specifically are in order?
