Revision as of 13:18, 26 December 2007

As a professional photographer I ran into cylindrical panoramas in 1996 and since that time I'm dedicated to panoramic photography. At that time I looked on the map to find a place that is called "Nodal Point"... I did all the mistakes, I know them well.

I still learn a lot and hope to give something back to the Panotools community. However I'd like to point out that the panotools.info server and it's management are not equal to the Panotools community. This wiki is the work of the community. Feel invited to join the Panotools-List Yahoo! group to discuss the friendly and democratic future of the Panotools community.

Besides commercial photography I also have some experience in print solutions, sometimes database driven, graphics and Mac administration.

Since the start of the PanoTools NG Yahoo group I am co-owner and one of the moderators of that list.

The nickname Zarl was given to me by a crazy austrian fashion photographer a long time ago when I worked as an assistant. My real name is Carl von Einem. I still shoot with film.... am I also crazy?

contact me at: einem {at} gmx .de or leave a message on my talk page.

little parts of my work can be viewed at einem.net

hugin on Mac OS X

I will try to explain the steps needed to get hugin plus the necessary components running on Mac OS X. This description is aimed at the usual Mac user who is not familiar with terms like compiling and thinks that Terminal is some kind of ant. Feel free to ask for details on my discussion page if something is missing.

This article is based on a fresh standard installation of Mac OS X 10.5 aka Leopard unless otherwise noted. I use a German system and as a default work with an account that has no admin rights.

  • hugin (Lucerne edition) - Ippei Ukai helped me to install the then newest version of hugin at the Panotools meeting 2007 in Lucerne, Switzerland. AFAIK this is still the latest available version for Mac if you don't know how to compile from the sources. I will try this other approach later.
You can download HuginOSX LucerneEdition temporarily from my website, the sources are available from sourceforge. Unpack the archive and move the containing HuginOSX.app in your Applications folder. If you want to use HuginOSX in a different language you can deselect your systems default language in the application's Information window in the Finder.
  • Mono - You will need this download to use autopano or autopano-sift, both assist in finding control points. I download and install Mono 1.2.6_4 Framework - Universal from mono-project.com (ca. 62 MB).
To check the version number of your currrent Mono environment open your Terminal app and type
    mono -V
